Mindful Yoga AND TEACHER MENTORING Mindful Yoga brings together the different yet complementary benefits of Hatha Yoga and Meditation. The practice of Hatha Yoga is well recognised as a way to enable us to reconnect with the beauty and grace of the body and ultimately make friends with ourselves. We perform the movements and postures while carefully focusing the mind and becoming intimately aware of our breathing and the way it moves us. The body is changing moment by moment, day by day, and year by year as we move through the stages of our lives. Mindful Yoga trains us to remain present for all the moments of our lives, every breath, whether the experiences are pleasant or unpleasant or neutral. By cultivating a regular yoga practice we learn to manage life’s daily challenges, beginning with learning to recognize old ingrained postural habits that may be inhibiting our greatest physical ease, then systematically letting go of them, reorganizing, rebuilding and ultimately rejuvenating the bodymind system. To truly embody these ideas and create meaningful change our experience must be integrated not just in the physical self but also in the mind. Mindful Yoga is an experiential process that develops self awareness and discernment. Mindful Yoga allows us to experience the relationship between emotions, thoughts and sensations in the body. Throughout a practice we observe the arising and passing of our internal states like clouds or weather patterns moving through the vast spaciousness of awareness, and our reactions to these internal events as they are occurring in the moment. Today’s scientific world recognises mind and body as interrelated components of the whole system and the breath as the bridge between them. We all carry an innate intelligence known as “proprioception” that is constantly providing us with fresh information to help us manage change in our lives and in our bodies and our breath is the most tangible way to access this. The breath is an ever present anchor for our attention while the accompanying sensations of renewal and expansion can be powerfully felt in both body and mind. Sal Flynn offers private Mindful Yoga sessions for individuals who have an interest in developing a home practice and well as those seeking to deepen their experience of attending yoga classes. Sal also provides mentoring and supervision for yoga teachers. For more information call Sal Flynn on 0409 909 930 or email Sal |
